Holt is seeking a highly motivated Airport Project Engineer or Project Manager who will be responsible for leading design efforts for airside and landside airport infrastructure and development projects for both commercial and general aviation airports. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, preparation of technical studies and reports, engineering design concepts, construction plans, specifications, opinions of construction costs, and assistance during construction phase services including field observation. As part of the Holt Team, you will contribute to our continued success by:

Demonstrating successful experience with engineering/design of airport improvements, including pavement, drainage, utility, and landside/site projects; designing runways, taxiways, and support facilities; developing airport layout plans, construction cost estimates, and performing computer aided design; developing and direct design and preparation of technical reports, calculations, project drawings, details & specifications; coordinating and directing efforts of technical staff to develop high-quality deliverables; proactively engaging with clients to prepare high quality and cost effective solutions; working as a key team member and task manager and mentoring junior design staff; and actively assisting in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning.

A successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge and application of FAA design standards and specifications; knowledge of FAA and state airport capital funding processes; expertise using engineering design and office software, including AutoCAD Civil 3-D and MS Office; and the ability to exercise discretion and balance the need for independent and collaborative efforts. Construction administration and observation experience preferred. Candidate must possess the ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation; have a working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts; and have the ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.

Current driver’s license and ability to obtain airside security badge at commercial service airports and passing required security background check required. The candidate will be required to hold a Professional Engineering registration in SC, GA, or NC or possess the ability to become licensed in these states.

This position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some travel and field work.
