General Aviation Terminal Development & Corporate Hangar Complex Development

Aviation

Project Description

The scope of this project encompasses the construction of a new general aviation terminal building as well as a new corporate hangar complex at ABY. The initial effort undertaken was a programming phase study which included the development of a preliminary building layout, preliminary site plan, preliminary drainage and utilities plan, construction phasing plan, a narrative report, and a program cost estimate. During the scoping phase, it was determined that a 5,000 square-foot general aviation building, and a 47,000 square-foot corporate hangar complex would meet the needs of the airport. During the design phase of the project, the building and hangars were designed to meet the City of Albany’s requirements.  Stakeholder meetings were also held to determine the building and hangars color schemes as well as material for all the aesthetic requirements the City of Albany wanted for the project. While LEED design standards were not required for this project, the design included considerations for ease of maintenance and efficient use of the materials, energy, and water.
